Found another dead mouse in our pool and it got me thinking... If you have a pool in your backyard and there's a dead mouse in it obviously you pick it up and throw it out. What if you see it alive and just stuck in the water and couldn't get out? Would you help it or would you let it die? On one hand, I would feel kinda messed up not helping it. On the other hand these things are pests and it's probably going to die soon anyway since, idk about you guys but, we get raccoons, coyotes, sometimes bobcats, and sometimes Hawks and Falcons in our area Edited by Ssj3vegito96, Apr 25 2017, 06:51 PM.

If it's close to the sides, I'd fish it out. I wish I could say I would care enough to jump in if it was more than an arm's length away, but I wouldn't. |

Mice are really smart animals and pretty good swimmers, it'll get out eventually. Whether it's a small mouse or a huge rat, and the situation is different, like say, in a deep hole instead of a pool (even though it would probably escape that too) I'd still help it. Maybe not with my hands, because I've seen the types of bites a rat can leave and I don't want those on me, but I'm certainly not going to leave it just to die there, especially if it's not going to give me any trouble or take my any effort to do it. |
Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?! Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power. | |

They're smart but I think the ledge in my pool is too high for them to climb out or something. Or maybe there has been more mice in my pool and I just don't know because they usually climb out? |

In my old house there was a mouse who was very impressive, impressive meaning he could dodge any trap I set. He ate the cheese right off the trap, even after i used tape to hold it down one time. I switched to glue traps and he would walk around those to get the cheese.. I even surrounded the cheese with nothing but glue traps and he got around. Then finally I got him one morning, in the middle of winter. I didn't know what to do so I poured water on him and threw him in the snow and was going to let him freeze to death. (I know that may sound mean.. but I figured it would kill him quicker) Well I went out an hour later and he was still alive. The snow acted like an igloo for him. So then I stepped on him and threw him away. The reason I told this story was because I had a change of heart. I realized he was just a mouse who was trying to survive and it was mean to let him suffer when I could just quickly kill him. So my advice would be to grab him, kill him mercifully, and throw him away. Now.. torturing pesky insects is a whole different story EDIT: I used peanut butter as well instead of cheese so it sticks to the trap and he still ate the peanut butter.. I bought a cat. Mice are no longer an issue. Let that little rodent pest drown. |

My policy is to help little critters until they actually step beyond their bounds. Like if a spider is just chilling, catching flies and stuff. That's fine. If that f***er starts running at me or lands on me, it dies. We don't really get mice invading homes here but if that happened I'd catch it and throw it out. If it came back having not learned its lesson, the cats can have it. |

Oh believe me, the trap was sufficient. To this day I still don't know how he got the cheese when I literally, and I repeat, literally surrounded the cheese with 3 glue traps with the cheese up against the wall. The only things I can think of is that he somehow walked in between the glue traps on the ledges, he had help from a friend, or he sold his soul for magic. The last one seems unlikely, because if he sold his soul I should have never been able to kill him. =\ But he was a worthy opponent. I should really honor his bravery. He was courageous mouse

Depends on what the wall was made of. I've seen mice climb almost any vertical surface. Could have done a mission impossible hang to grab the cheese. I've always had luck with sunflower seed kernels and simple plastic clamp traps. |
