Are you afraid of dying?

Personally I'm not afraid of dying. It seems like a scary thing and always used to really bother me, but not anymore. How about everyone else here. Are you afraid of dying and why or why not? You don't have to say why or why not if you don't want to though.

I am a cemetery caretaker and have been for.....over 10 years now. If I was afriad of death, I'm not now. Doesn't mean I look forward to it, just doesn't bother me.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

It's not death that scares me, it's the inevitable pain and suffering that accompanies it. Death itself doesn't bother me; no point being scared of something that is unavoidable. Might as well get on board with it and enjoy the time you do have, rather than spending life worrying about it.

"Course. Doing better next time. That's what life is."

Death is pretty bothersome and sometimes really annoying, but it's nothing to be afraid of.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

I don't and for someone like me who isn't religious and for those who also aren't, that means a lot more to us than those who are. For me, there is no afterlife. There is no Heaven or Hell or reincarnation. This is the life I live now and it will be the only life I live. It would be nice if there was something afterwards but I do not trying to imagine that without proper reasoning.

So if there's anything I'm afraid of, it's not making an impact on this life. It's often said that immortality comes from the remembrance of how you impacted others. People like "Alexander the Great", "Bram Stoker", "Walt Disney", all of these people may be dead but all of them have set accomplishments, be they good or bad that has left their mark in history.

Until humanity dies out completely, will will probably always remember the people in history who have carved their names and that's what I want. It doesn't have to be grandiose but by the end of y life, I want something that will be etched in history. For some people this might just be continuing their generation with children and grand-children.

For myself, I love writing so at some point I'd love to have something of mine published.

It's a strange thing talking about it, but in all honesty death in itself doesn't bother me. What does is not being there for those that I care about.

It only concerns me because it could happen earlier than I'd like. I want to see us meet aliens before I die.

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

I'm terrified of death. The idea of eternal nothingness bothers me as a strong possibility IMO. But, I guess I won't care once I'm actually dead, then, huh? So it's a little pointless to be afraid.

I'm afraid of dying via murder or car accident, yeah. I'll accept my death from old age, though.

Yeah, that's how I definitely used to feel a lot.

Fear of death is irrelevant. You're dead. The dead do not hold human emotions.

That statement is 100% true... yet it still terrifies me.

Because it's in your programming. We are wired to survive and death is what drives us to live. Fear is associated with the flight or fight synapse, the driving force behind your survival.
