I just heard about and saw some videos of the "battle for Berkeley". If you haven't seen it go check it out it's pretty crazy It made me think...both sides are getting violent now. Do you think it's possible for there to be a civil war? Kind of a scary and crazy thought maybe I'm blowing it out of proportion but what do you think? Edited by Ssj3vegito96, Apr 17 2017, 10:35 PM.

The situation is gonna have to get a lot more tense before it erupts into war. Even a riot isn't really that telling of a civil war considering we've had them before. I see no more reason for this to turn the USA to civil war than that one time that British person punched someone from the EDL. |

The Berkley riots were between Trump supporters and members of Antifa right? Antifa believe in using violence to get their goals and aren't really shy about that. It's not like either of those two groups really represents two sides of an argument, they're both at the extremes of their respective beliefs. It does no favours for returning any civility to political discourse but honestly when you have the President tweeting insults there's not much chance of that anyway. |

I was hoping for a discussion about growing international tensions resulting in a possible war. Civil disputes don't often erupt into civil war. |

It wasn't ANTIFA vs Trump supporters. It was ANTIFA vs participants at a free speech rally; not a Trump rally. One could say that's semantics since there were undoubtedly Trump supporters there, but when it comes to acts of violence it's important to get the facts correct, regardless of how insignificant they may seem. What's also interesting, is that the Berkeley Mayor follows ANTIFA on Twitter and there are some scary videos which gives some strong circumstantial evidence that the Mayor purposefully told the cops to stand down (as the videos show that the cops said they had orders to desist from any action, a few of them didn't look happy) and also there is evidence that shows that the ANTIFA attack was a planned attack, coordinated by some powerful people. The M-80 reportedly thrown into the crowd at no relation at all to what an M80 looks like and sounds like. I will stop here because this may be getting into conspiracy theories which are banned here, but I recommend checking out some videos on the Berkeley violence. |

A civil war could occur when two or more states decide to rebel and hold a secession. The federal government is so involved in how states work in America that they wouldn't be able to afford a secession. Even with Trump as president, general life in America is a lot better than some would like for you to believe. Some people punching others at Berkley barely made national news for less than a day or two. Only a slippery slope thought process would make one believe we are on the brink of civil war. |
