First episode out, what did you think? I personally found the new companion pretty cool. Kind of an anti climactic ending though. It's like, is that it? Also nice to see the Movellans, be it just a glimpse. |

I liked it but it didn't blow me away, the pilot was decently creepy anyway. Not sure about the companion yet, she seems okay but I'm going to get bored of her so fast if half her personality is "makes pop culture references" Glad they didn't make a massive fuss about her being a lesbian like oh my gawd a gay character in Doctor Who we've never had that! Who the hell is Captain Jack? He's from Pirates of the Caribbean, idiot. I am unsure how to feel about John Simm coming back. He was fantastic as The Master but I feel like they should have just stuck with Missy, a male Doctor and female Master was an interesting dynamic. Making her more of a threat and not just a comedy sideshow would have been brilliant but I guess they're ditching that. Unless it's just a past version of The Master but really that would just undermine the current one so doubt it. Also https://www.flickeringmyth.com/2017/04/rumour-kris-marshall-replacing-peter-capaldi-in-doctor-who/#.WPOSnK9Ql64.facebook Kris Marshall as The Doctor...not a fan if true. I'm sure he's a decent actor but he seems to play quite nerdy or dull characters, perhaps his Doctor will be different but yeah, not a fan so far. Perhaps he'll surprise. In any case, can't see him being better than Capaldi, Smith or Tennant. Edited by Steve, Apr 17 2017, 12:23 PM.

Ahhhh, finally Moffat is gone. Still, a decent finale. Some aspects seemed a bit rushed but a good send off for Moffat. Spoiler: click to toggle I expect the Christmas episode to be awesome. Edited by Steve, Jul 2 2017, 06:28 PM.

So...they did it: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4701252/Jodie-Whittaker-woman-play-Doctor-Who.html Haven't seen Jodie in anything but lots of people say she's a good actress, that's positive. I'm in two minds about it, on the one hand I don't give a s*** about The Doctor being female but on the other...what can we expect from the writing? Hopefully it's massively improved and her whole character isn't going to be "Ha I'm a woman now, men suck" Naturally many people are outraged. Seems this will make or break Doctor Who, either the series will be revitalized or destroyed by s*** writing and misogyny. |
