Yeah, there's too many Superhero movies. I'm probably gonna skip most of them, like I skipped Ant-Man. |

I don't see a problem really, they're just the new "thing" A good sign that a lot of other genres have gone stale and need to reinvent themselves. Can't remember the last time I cared about a typical gangster movie for example, they all feel so similar. So long as the Oscars don't turn in to the superhero movie awards it's fine, other good movies are plenty appreciated...but typically few and far between. |

They're no different than most blockbusters, and those have been made consistently for decades. Don't forget about the zombie or shark crazes, cause those movies used to get made all the time, one right after the other. |
Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?! Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power. | |

Yeah at least the comic book world has a fantastic level of variety to adapt. Things will probably just get better when more obscure material is adapted, especially now that R rated comic movies are a proven success and more freedom in how they make the movies can be given. I'll take that over The Departed Wannabe #8000 or Not As Good As The Matrix Actually Super Meh Generic Sci-Fi movie |

Too bad they've yet to adapt it well. |

While superhero movies aren't my favorite genre, I don't really mind there being so many. It's just the new fad, like shark movies, zombie movies (oh my god was that over-saturation), and vampire movies. Y'know, one movie of that genre is a sleeper hit and then the next 5-10 years is filled with knock-offs and sequels. I skipped Ant-Man and I might skip the new Spider-Man movie (at least in theaters, I'll catch it on Kodi). The only ones I'm actually interested in these days are Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman to an extent. Most Marvel heroes I couldn't care less about. I lost interest in the Avengers even before Age of Ultron came out. |

I'm actually looking forward to surprisingly few of those. I want to see Guardians, I'll catch WW just because I want to see a female led movie but I'm not exactly hyped, SM I'm pretty ambivalent about, looking forward to Thor, meh on JL, cautiously hyped for Black Panther and Avengers. The rest of the DC and Fox stuff I'm similarly meh about. I do think I'm feeling that burnout. |

It's not a good sign at all, in fact this is non-sense. They make superhero movies because they make money. They are often mindless action movies with no after-thought, while the other genres that "need to reinvent themselves" actually often have a message to tell. It's not genres that need to reinvent themselves, it's most of human kind. |

I disagree on the grounds that the messages the movies have to tell have often been told dozens of times and have been told better by superior movies at all. The ones that do it well typically get the praise they deserve, like Get Out I believe has a lot of racial stuff in it and has been praised for it. When you think of most genres of movies can you really think of many recent ones that actually do something different? Virtually every romance or romcom is the same thing, crime movies are all pretty damn similar, there's a million action movies that want to make the next tough guy action star and exist for no other purpose, many dozens of uninspired sequels or remakes of superior movies, the horror genre is particularly terrible most of the time and not in a good way. Animated movies are practically the only things that consistently tread new waters. And then there's drama's or drama thrillers that are usually quite decent like Hacksaw Ridge and The Revenant. |

I suppose we can agree on a few certain genres such as superhero, action and romcoms. They don't really have a message aside from the genre norm, but certain directors like to make movies to raise awareness or send a message, something to think about. Tarantino, Scorsese and Inarritu are those kind of directors. I feel like most drama films have a clear or vague message at least. |

It really depends on the superhero movie. Cause Spider-Man 2 was inspirational and emotional as hell, one of the best of the entire genre in general. |

Yeah, like others have mentioned, it's no different to over-saturation of other types of films e.g. like Steve said, romcoms are pretty much all the same, but it's a winning formula so they'll always be made. Comic book movies are making money, smashing records left and right, so as long as they keep drawing big crowds, they'll keep being made. As for me personally, there are a few franchises that I look forward to, namely X-Men, along with Guardians of the Galaxy & Deadpool after enjoying their respective first films, but I'm mostly apathetic to the rest. |
