Ben Affleck-led and Matt Reeves-directed “The Batman” has been pushed back due to Reeves’ commitments to other projects, a new rumor at Slashfilm suggests that things may be more serious than expected.

The site indicates that their sources close to production say the film will be completely rewritten from scratch. As a result, it’s quite possible everything we’ve heard about the film’s story is no longer in play.

Affleck, Chris Terrio, and DC Comics CCO Geoff Johns were among those who worked the first version of the screenplay which featured Batman facing off against Deathstroke (Joe Manganiello). It’s not clear who is responsible for the new script yet.

“The Batman” is now looking like it will debut on screens sometime in 2019.

Ouch....I'll say scrap the movie and allow other heroes to take the stage to get popular and have a BatFAMILY movie.

Honestly, they should just scrap the DCEU and start over. Obviously they can't do that, but I'd rather have something well written over what we've been getting ever since MoS.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

Batman hasn't had it easy since Nolan left him on a slightly sour note. I don't understand why, though. He was set up fairly well in BvS, Affleck seemed like he wanted to do Batman justice in the DCEU (until rumors popped up he wanted out), and the script seemed like a no-brainer with Deathstroke as the villain. Why are they making this so complicated? Stick with what works.

They're already in too deep to reboot the universe, unless they pull some Flash B.S. where everything gets set back to the point before MoS, but that'd be stupid and feel like a huge waste of time with all of the movies that have come out and will be out before they could even try that.

I say just leave Batman alone for now, focus on the ones that need more establishing to the general public (like Flash, Cyborg, Wonder Woman), and go from there. Batman doesn't need another solo movie yet. He can wait until the others have been fleshed out.
