I can't believe the "oh no a Venom movie without Spidey" s*** is still going...
Eddie's never been a bad guy, so I dunno what you're expecting... He's not right in the head which I can somewhat see here, even just when it comes to his appearance.
I mean it's an alien goo monster. Spiders have pretty basic abilities and so far Venom hasn't shown anything particularly Spider-Man-y.
Well hopefully you're not hoping this gets implemented into the MCU, because if that's the case say goodbye to anything too scary or bloody or brutal coming from Venom. And we need an uncensored Venom as much as we need a watered down version of all other Marvel chara- oh wait we already have that.
Neither looks terrible, the portrayals is what mattered, and by virtue of the new one being able to speak as Venom, this one earns bonus points. 
Spoiler alert, Carnage came from Venom. Spoiler alert also, Carnage has tendril things so yeah no s*** Venom had those tendril abilities long before him as well  
Considering Eddie's shown being in a forest at one point (unless that's a dream), I fear of this as well. |

Yeah, I know what I meant was they're thick and tendril like rather than webs to sling around with, so he's not exactly spider-like in any way here. Using his whole body seems more like a Carnage thing. Which raises the question of what differences will there be? Carnage is stronger but do they not have some differences in ability? Also I don't see what was wrong with Spider-Man 3 Venom's suit, I thought it looked pretty cool for CGI at the time. It just didn't beef him up enough. |

I fear that they might use Carnage the same way the TASM2 game did, as a boss fight lacking any personality and nothing else. A wild monster, like Spider-Man 3 Venom. Sweet poetic justice if that's the case 'cause I'd love to see this Venom pummel the other one but I want CARNAGE. |

Y'know, it's a shame Topher Grace was used in Spider-Man 3, since he practically played Carnage rather than Venom anyway he'd have made a good one, he did crazy really well. I could totally buy him as Cletus. It'd especially work out since Topher is nowhere near as buff as Tom Hardy, so they even have the look down. The villain is my main worry for the movie, they might spend so much time on how much of an anti-hero Venom is that they'll forget to make the villain interesting...I don't want like an hour and a half of Venom fighting police and military that can't possibly beat him anyway. |

@Darker: I didn't say that Eddie was a bad guy. I just remember Eddie haven't an edge to him. There was assertiveness and aggression to him that I feel I did not see in the trailer. I really don't want Carnage to be the villain in this movie. I only want Carnage to be a villain if Spider-Man is around to fight with Venom against him. I remember Carnage being strong enough that it took Spider-Man and Venom (and I feel like Iron man showed up) to beat him. [edit]I didn't see Steve's clip. No signs of Cletus Kasady in that trailer. If Carnage is in this movie, I reaaally hope they don't go the awful Ultimate Universe route of making him a monster with no host. It would also really suck if the villain was just some evil corporate guy. As for the trailer, the film looks fairly generic but it's refreshing to see a movie based on a Marvel property that (presumably) doesn't abide by the MCU formula. The Venom voice is great. Eeeh. Too young.
I mean, in the cartoon he received a pretty huge boost from Dormammu. He could even lift tanks and open them up like tin cans, only sonics could hurt him then. And when it comes to the comics, minus any weird boosts, he's still that, a beast that can take on both Spidey and Venom together.  But again, sonic weapons can kill him so perhaps that's what Venom will use against Carney, since he's not getting Spidey's help.  Or perhaps they're gonna build up Carnage in this one? And Venom will gang up on him with a group of other heroes in the next Venom movie? Hmmm? Edited by Darker, Apr 25 2018, 12:31 AM.

That would be pretty cool but I'm sure there's other more powerful and more obscure villains in Sony's roster that could be done with as well. I'm not sure anyone else would be as exciting as Carnage for this first movie. Reeeally hope it's not just Venom vs humans that will be so dull. Has Venom ever had much interaction with Smythe and the Spider Slayers? I remember them from the cartoon. They were probably just to sell toys but they're still cool. Though as a "villain" they lack personality, obviously. Maybe Smythe could be injured in this first movie and he could go on a revenge trip. Though I forget, was Smythe hinted at in Homecoming or am I remembering that from TASM2? With Transformers now being pretty dead and s*** I wouldn't mind some big robot destruction. Though if this is meant to be in the MCU at all it'd be hard to justify. |

Not necessarily exciting, but Scorpion could work. Any of the Sinister Six are bound to appear (which, granted, includes a lot of members since the team has changed over the decades) sooner or later so I'm sure Venom will confront them at one point.
Nah like I've mentioned a few times (and Queen has as well) this movie, being partially based off Venom: Lethal Protector, will presumably have Venom fighting some of his genetically engineered offspring. 
Not to my knowledge, and if he's had anything recently lazer will tell us that.
I'd rather not have Smythe or the Spider-Slayers, at least not until we see any mad scientists (specifically Smythe's dad) and Jameson, since those two were responsible for their creation. Venom VS Symbiotes is fine for a first movie. Once Venom becomes a problem (and he will) in later entries of the... 'Venomverse' as I'm gonna call it, we'll see. I want to see him more as a reporter.
I mean it'd be a good way to show off how beastly his super strength is but I dunno about anything else.
Hmmm... Interesting casting choice. Other than that, what else is there to be said? It's friggin' Carnage, we all love 'im.

Do Sony have him? He was in Homecoming so if this isn't 100% connected to the MCU not sure they can still use him. I mean I'd love to see the Sinister Six on screen...but they are Spidey's enemies first and foremost...hmm... Not sure I'm a fan of Woody being Carnage. Cartoon bias though. I want a shrill voice like this again: Woody is a bit too deep to sound that sort of crazy, I think. |

Did not even know that was supposed to be Gargan. Guess that changes things, though any of Spidey's other rogues could work.
They became a group to take down the spider together, so now Venom only needs to go around beating thugs that eventually get powerful tech. |

I've not seen the movie yet so I won't respond to spoiler replies for this just IF statements. Not sure if this happens or not but I'm seeing a LOT of people say that Potential Infinity War spoilers If that's actually true I wonder how it could affect this movie? Unless it is just a side thing like the Netflix series and AoS, they're technically in the verse but also in a kind of pocket universe unrelated to each other. I'd like the movies to tie in to each other though. Of course I never want Kid Venom to actually show up in the MCU with his new child friendly powers that don't hurt anyone but would still be cool to see they're properly connected. |

They’re not tying together Feige and Amy Pascal flat out stated that they’re in separate universes/not connected to one another although Pascal initially tried to say they were (which she has since corrected herself). Venom is the start of its own universe (which apparently runs “adjunct” to the MCU). Spider-Man’s not involved in the origin, and I guess we’ll see how Silver and Black eventually ties into the universe Venom will be in. Edited by Dbzk1999, May 1 2018, 11:01 PM.

I wouldn't be 100% sure of that http://comicbook.com/marvel/2018/02/08/venom-movie-spider-man-cameo-sony-twitter/ I don't think they'll be connected so much that we'll properly see Spider-Man and Venom together but Venom will probably be in a world where the MCU happens. Again like Netflix, they mention the Avengers and whatnot but we'll never actually see them. MCU events are happening in the background but aren't involved in the Netflix series. |
