OHGODIAMSOEXCITEDFORTHIS

Ok, so. This is pretty much my "review" for the entire season, and I'll be watching the episodes as they come out.
Why, you ask? Because Samurai Jack is one of my all time favourite shows. I love it to death.

SPOILERS (duh)

This was a great first episode. Not sure if that's the fanboy or the nostalgia speaking but it's true, this just makes me want to watch more and I love when shows do that.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

Thala na Gethu!

I remember watchin this show roughly....a decade back

The animation still havent changed one bit...

Its not like they have budget issues or anything. I'd understand if its having artistic differences like Super when each week, some random animator pops into a new episode

Samurai Jack has always been dark for me. The atmosphere, the fights etc

But I wish they at least upgrade some aspects like facial details, realistic body proportion, "actual" coherent dialogues

Why?

Why do you want it to look realistic when this is Genndy Tartakovsky's artstyle? He can't just suddenly change that.

Today's episode was EEEEEEEPIIIIIIICCCCC!!!

Aku's voice is pretty close to Mako's I think...still wish Mako was still alive though...

And they still make Aku funny forcing us to feel sympathy for the character and like him... How can we feel angry at him and want him to die?

Hardly imo.
But I won't be too harsh on Greg.

Mako was Aku. No one will ever replace him.
The delivery of his lines and the acting were just perfect. Aku could be both hilarious and terrifying in the same scene.

That's the thing though... Aku's not meant to be sympathetic. We're supposed to dislike him, he's a very despicable evil-doer. Sure he's funny and practically the main source of entertainment for every episode he appears in, but he's done pretty horrible stuff in the past, and he'll never be forgotten for that.

I also like to take note that Jack contemplated suicide of all things, that's how you know he's done with this s***.

Also anyone else getting an Old Man Logan vibe from Jack?

They're both completely different personality wise.

The only similarity is that they're broken down versions of their past selves who are from messed up futures, but that's a very old trope.

Also, apparently the second episode's climax is an homage to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ecstasy_of_Gold

I've also just learned that this season will only last 10 episodes, which both saddens and pleases me.

There definitely was much blood in this episode...but it was so visually great...and spoilers

Jack and the wolf do meet and become friends...it's about time Jack is the one who is receiving and not giving help

Realistically Jack should've died, he was losing way too much blood.

"I am the bone of my sword."

I'm shocked they came to the conclusion of Jack killing the Daughters of Aku. I assumed, what with the trope and everything, Jack might go through a few episodes of, doing his best not to kill them or being sort of, unwilling to do it.

But nope, not here. Jack remembers the past with his father (which was also awesome) and it's nice to see Jack coming to an understanding of what he has to do. Along with the crazy animation and style, probably one of the best parts (at least in terms of action) is just that final shot of Jack releasing the chain around his wrist with his complete no s***s given face.

Jack to brutal man.

Realistically? You do realize this is Samurai Jack, right?

I'll add my thoughts on the episode later on.

I LOVE Samurai Jack so far, the unique animation, the gloominess and Jack's current mental state.

In fairness, with what Keanu has shown in the John Wick films, I hope he is here with us forever.
