Nothing can be compared to the original

This is just my opinion, but everything that has come out after the Dragon Ball manga is not even close to as good as the original series. I'm not saying that it's bad, but GT, Super, Multiverse, or anything else just isn't comparable. Do you think there's a possibility for anything Dragon Ball related to be better than the original series?

As a whole I agree. But in certain areas I think GT and Super have dbz beat. I really like the goku black, baby, and shadow dragon saga. Those three all beat the buu saga for me

Possible? 100%

The real question is when I'll get around to making it...

No, because the original series will always have the edge of being the first. Sequels are always held to a higher standard because the original exists, but the original has the benefit of having no measuring stick. Plus, nostalgia has a strong effect on how people perceive things. Most people would have entered into the fandom via watching/reading the originals, so that will always be the one they like the most.

And also, the originals were very good, so it's going to be tough to better it anyway.

As Mitas said, nostalgia is the key factor. I think that super is improving a lot as it progresses and in the course of time, if still continuing on the trajectory, will be very close to the original. But to overcome the nostalgia you can't just be a bit better, if you have to be leaps and bounds better for people the acknowledge it.

Story aside, the DBS manga is awesome imo. Maybe not as good as the original but I wouldn't say it's not comparable at all. There is not a single chapter I don't like. For me it's closer to the original series than anything else has been

The original series still has the cooler and more epic(aside from goku black) stories though

Ironically, Super's manga is likely as good or at least up to par with "Z's" epicness is because of Toriyama's influence. The fight scenes with Goku/Vegeta vs "Black"/Zamasu was awesomeness.

The same thing applies to most shows/movies. The first is always the best, so good that people want more. Hence the adaptations and spin-offs.

You can't even talk about the DBS Manga though, 'cause look how short and brief it is in comparison to the original Manga.

True it's a lot shorter. The chapters are like 30-40 pages but it's still probably going to end by around chapter 30. So what though? We can't compare the dbz manga to it at all?

No, the original manga will always be the best. Toriyama clearly isn't showing the same interest in making a great story now, especially considering he's even limiting his contributions in Super now... So I would say never expect the same magic as the manga ever again.

I think it would be quite difficult for it to be just as good. I haven't seen all of super since I'm watching the English dub. But from what I've seen and taking GT into consideration, it's nowhere as close to the original.
