I got witcher 3 but I've never played these games before and went in not knowing much. I don't know what a good build is. I'm not far so I'm not even sure what'd I prefer yet but probably a lot of melee? I just finished beating the griffin Is it best/easier to go all melee? If so, heavy or fast attacks? Is using both spells and melee better? |

Anything can work. One suggestion I'd make would be to start using the Quen Active Shield because of the free healing feature. (If you're on the hardest difficulty.) I abused that shield like mad. Hf |

Since you don't know yet, i suggest to play around and see for yourself how you like to combat enemies. Griffin school is best suited for people who likes to use signs. Cat school is best for fast and quick melee attacks and retreat. Bear school is best for strong attacks and best suited towards stronger enemies. Wolf school combines griffin and cat school plus with potions. You may ask since wolf school combines both classes, shouldn't i choose this? There's no problem with this school, since the main character is from this school, but you'll miss out on all synergy and bonus to stats the other classes can provide. My best advice, the first sign you should max out is Quen (you'll need it if you select highest difficulty death march). If you need help in which build and what gear and weapon, you can ask later.

Get Igni's Firestream ability or whatever it's called and any time you're stuck, spam that. Once you get enemies in a burning animation you've won, you can just keep burning them and they'll just stand screaming until they die. This works on at least the second highest difficulty, what I played it on. Probably works on Death March too. Doing that I was taking out things like 10-15 levels higher than me that could one shot me It's actually kinda pointless though since you can't use any rewards you get until you get to their level...I have no idea why they made that choice with the levelling system. |
