In the spirit of Zoom's "What will happen to white peoples countries in 10 years time?" topic just a bit less...that, I hope. People currently aren't fans of immigrants and refugees coming to "their" countries and taking our jobs but will this escalate as more and more "problem" people stack up in other countries? People in the UK for instance aren't happy about the government catering to Muslims by allowing Halal slaughter to take place for kosher meat, as the Muslim population of the UK grows and requires it for their beliefs. Similar things are no doubt happening elsewhere and will need to happen as other groups mix in to countries and governments will be required to cater them...much to the disgust of many. Is this likely to make racial/religious tensions spike higher as people feel forced to put up with things they don't agree with? As a hypothetical example and fyi not picking on Muslims here I just know little of other controversial aspects to other groups. What would happen if a country went from 90% non-religious/other and 10% Muslim. To 90% Muslim 10% non-religious/other, to the point where Sharia Law was enforced all over. The then minority would be pretty damn pissed that their lives are forcibly altered by people coming to "their" country, especially women in this case, there's no way people would just accept changes like that and many beliefs are stubborn enough that the 10% might not be left to do their own thing. I can see how it would get better with time, people would open their minds to other beliefs and the world could maybe become a better place...but it's doubtful there wouldn't be huge issues. Especially when it comes to religions mixing in with places that are becoming less and less religious. |

So long as extremist movements are allowed to grow and fester, the conflicts they incite will escalate and multiply. Needless to say if ISIS could theorectically been nipped in the bud then it follows everything they incited would not have happened, or to a lesser degree only. |

That doesn't help but even if extremists weren't around two completely different cultures don't usually get along so well if they have conflicting ideas on things. It wouldn't happen but imagine how furious people in the US would be if the Muslim population got to the point where the government had to consider banning the slaughter of cows for meat since a large majority of the population consider them sacred. A lot of stuff like that would piss people off about another people "stealing" their country. And then other groups would get bigger and have to mingle with everyone else, leading to even more dispute on how everyone should live. |

In regards to certain religious groups rising in numbers, there's probably a plateau there (that will be way lower than even 50%, let alone 90%) before the younger generations raised in a society that continues to question religion turn away from their own religions (much like Christians and other religious groups in the US, UK and other countries) and the numbers begin to lower. Race and nationality are different because unlike religion, they aren't going to go away anytime soon. However, it's possible, even likely, that the continued diversity of populations that you mentioned will unify, and not divide. A lot of tensions exist because people from Group A have only been around other people from Group A. The introduction of new groups is a shock to the system. However, the longer that Groups B, C, D etc are integrated with Group A, the less of a shock it becomes and the more it becomes normality. It won't happen overnight, but I imagine as older, isolated generations make way for newer generations who have been raised in diverse populations, tensions will slowly dissipate. |

Yeah originally I just had race in the title but clearly much, if not most of the conflict is based around religion, which will hopefully die down some day. The race thing I feel we can definitely get over since race makes one only human and we all deserve the same rights. Religion is a bother to this end as some people require different rights that can often infringe on others or make them feel that way. Unity without religion would be a beautiful thing. Doubt it'll happen in our lifetimes though. No offence to anyone that is religious, different groups just struggle to mix. |

I think it'll always be there to some extent. Humans like to divide themselves, be it by country, by county, by city, by sports team, by music interest etc. We seem to thrive on a 'them and us' mentality. |

The only 'Them And Us' there should be is: Us = Everybody willing to get along together, despite race/religion/sexuality Them = Everybody else Those in the "them" catagory should have a nice island to live on, whilst they fight each other to death about who has the better sports team. |
