Oh, how I wish these people would have stood up for us back when we were being molested on Runescape by pedophiles.

My solution? Don't let your children on a smartphone or tablet unsupervised. I may be biased, having grown up without these things, but I really have no sympathy for parents who allow their 8 year old child free use of a smartphone or tablet. It's just bad parenting. Don't want to deal with your kid? Let them on your iPad for hours at a time unsupervised. I'm sure nothing bad could possibly happen.

Things this article fails to address or even examine:

1) These "pedophiles" grooming your children are more than likely other children goofing around/being sexually confused.
2) The description of the game on app stores clearly states that this is an MMORP, implying that there will be an open chat feature.
3) I'm sure that this game, much like Runescape, has word filters. What players choose to do outside of word filters and clearly-stated rules comes with the territory of playing an MMORP.
4) The game is for ages 10 and up. Not that this is a huge deal, but the article directly deals with the case of an 8 year old child, so it's a fair criticism.

I think that just like with social media, kids playing mmorpg should be taught not to give personal information to others. As long as they understand how dangerous that can be it should be fine

I think as long as people understand the risks involved and the fact that kids shouldn't give out personal information to anyone on the internet. As long as people followed that then we will be fine.
