These types of people should be shot on sight after the movie.
That's not funny, movie shootings aren't something to joke about.
That's why I said they should be shot after the movie. /s

I wasn't trying to reference or make fun of actual shootings! I was using a common phrase: http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/sb-should-be-shot because I find people who talk during movies "extremely unreasonable." Then I realized that my original post was kind of ironic because shooting someone during a movie would even more distracting than talking during one! So I make an edit that they should be shot after the movie.

Is "X should be shot" not a common informal phrase where you're from?

I don't go to movies because, seemingly as I get older, I get more and more disrespected at them verbally... And I'm an introvert. I've only really had issues with people degrading me, but never issues with phones or talking during the movie, bizarrely enough. Only before and after do people annoy me with their inappropriate chatter.

Vertical and I watch things and chat during them all the time, but the chatter tends to have something to do with the media at hand, so I don't think it's a bad thing.

I once saw a kid in the front row of a movie, whip out a book and start reading. It's not distracting, but come on dude, you can stay at home and read for free. And there is no other reasons why they would do that, it was a kids movie screening (I was a kid at the time), and there were no adults present.....so this kid CHOSE to bring a book and read during a movie he paid to watch. URGH.

But otherwise, yeah, phones/talking are very bad.

Yeah? Have you never? It got worse as I got older. My worst experience was, funnily enough, at a DBZ movie.

No... I've never experienced someone being verbally abused by strangers at a theater either. Do you instigate this in some way?

If this is a common occurrence for people, then I apologize. I am uninformed.

Yeah never experienced that either though people here in Scotland are grumpy f***s that keep to themselves unless drunk typically.

That's both good and bad :p

It'd be funny to have someone be a dick to you then be like "I've read the book, X character dies in the end"
Assuming it was during or before the movie.

Don't know why the fone thing would bother anyone tbh. Anyone can look at their phone whenever the f*** they want as long as it's on silent and they don't talk.

Regarding talking, I don't mind that either as long as they don't mind me telling them to shut up or throwing popcorn at them if I'm in a more immature mood

The phone thing can kinda be distracting if you're trying to focus on the movie, suddenly this big beacon of light appears out of nowhere pointing at you and wtf is that.

Don't care too much about that or other phone usage though, people always seem to complain that others are on or looking at their phones a lot... butwhat do you say when someone's mother died in an accident and they didn't know because you moaned at them to turn their phone off...

Yeah, especially if they're doing it while finding their seat. They could just ask people, it would bother them less, especially if it's during commercials.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

Talking in a theater is one of the most annoying things for me. I want to immerse myself in the film, really take it in and enjoy it. The only any kind of talking should occur is when the movie does something that expects it. It does something shocking, exciting, etc and everyone has to get a quick burst of conversation out due to such a scene.

When I saw "Rogue One" two kids were just chatting away during the whole thing, it was obnoxious as all hell.

I feel the same thing outside of a theater, watching a movie at home but am a bit more forgiving there because more than likely, I did not pay for a movie in that regard (or if I did, I can watch it any time). I paid for a movie at the theatre, so unless you're going to give me my money back, please shut the hell up.

I don't have a problem with people looking at their phones, even in a cinema. As long as they're not making any noise, why would I care?
Because the light destroys the immersion of the movie. It's like you being really into a movie, and then someone randomly turns on a flashlight next to your face.

I hate it when people talk during movies, unless it's friends with a bad movie, or a move rewatch.

Except it's not a flashlight to your face, it's a phone about 10m away lmao.

In a dark movie theater, it's pretty much a flashlight. And also, it could be the row of seats in front of you.

Idt. Bring a torch in next time ur in one and then see if there's a difference. I bet there is.

Also the ppl in front of me tend to have heads that will block whatever it is they're doing anyway.
