Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

When people are doing something horrendously stupid like attaching fireworks to themselves and jumping in to the snow after lighting them or downing several bottles of high volume alcohol for a stupid challenge.

Do you like to let nature do it's work and get them out the gene pool or would you prefer people stop them?

Discounting when it's people you know and care about, unless you feel you'd truly be better off :p

Survival of the fittest I say. If nature somehow hasn't taken themselves out due to their stupidity, they must be doing something right.

Lol why is this even a question? If you see someone doing something dangerous of course you should try to stop them.

Well... I don't think you can compute Nat. Selection with your firework example. It's developmental psychology, pain, be it physical or psychological, is what teaches us right from wrong. Which is why congenital analgesia is such a dangerous illness to have. I guess you could argue that if someone repeatedly tries doing dumb things then it's obviously he hasn't learned anything, but then I think we'd have to look at the external factors. Like is he doing it in front of a crowd of people? Does he just want attention? If that's the case then I don't think he would be ripe for elimination since he is voluntarily doing something just to get an attention. I think natural selection would focus more that people do dumb, dangerous stuff, but they don't realize it is dumb dangerous stuff..

Just my two cents

The "prefer people stop them" bit was meant to suggest you're not there.

Well unless they're developmentally disabled in an obvious way I don't feel sad when people do something completely stupid, unless it encourages other people to do the same because they think it's not dangerous.

But someone would be there, why else would they do it? Nobody does something like that alone unless they want to commit suicide in a strange way.

Not always, there's loads of people who have decided to video themselves drinking whole bottles of vodka and such to show off, of course they typically end up in hospital because that's not a very smart thing to do.

People should stop them, I don't see how this is a question, people do stupid stuff all the time (and no, even if you think you don't do stupid stuff, you do), and the loss of life effects more people than the one, it effects their friends and family, the fact you had to leave out people you know and care about already shows how the gene pool argument falls flat, it's not any attempt to better the human race, it's just apathy or annoyance.

Has it also occurred to people that caring for each other and stopping each other from doing stupid s*** is beneficial to populations and therefore natural selection as well.

Natural selection is the reason why educated people will eventually die out.

Everyone does stupid things? What if I were to do something stupid? Obviously I would want someone to stop me from getting myself killed because I'm, like, a genius.
