In the DBS manga he's more like his movie version. He has a more neutral feel to him from the beginning rather than an evil villain

In the anime, he was menacing, evil, and just total douche bag. Everybody was on their knees for him. It kind of took away from what made him popular if you ask me. But on the the other hand, it's more character development. We see him warm up to everyone on earth in the manga and he's pretty close with them. In the anime though, he's come much further

So which do you like?

"I am the bone of my sword."

DBS Beerus, especially when we see him in his initial arc and what not, is so blatantly dickish that he comes off like any other villain we've seen. His entire reaction at Bulma's party is him scowling and abusing Vegeta and others. His attack on Bulma is treated like a horrifying assault that was going to leave her dead. He's is just a dick with few if any redeeming qualities.

In the movie, he keeps the neutrality while still being a fun and engaging character. Movie Beerus at the party...is literally the life of the party. He's eating, he's break dancing, everyone's like...yeah man...go Beerus! Go Beerus! Go Beerus! Scantily clad ladies are draping themselves over him...ok not really. He comes off as such an enjoyable and fun character, something we barely got in a villain, much less a movie villain.

Therefore it makes his actions of destruction more apparent. It shows that while Beerus can be fun...he is still a God of Destructiona and while not evil...he is not a good person. But look at his whole interaction at the party. Even his attack on Bulma is basically a light tap and Vegeta just loses his s*** like he ripped out her heart or something.

Really, the only reason Movie Beerus had to kick everyone's a*** was because Boo was a pudding hogging fat a*** and everyone decided to gang up on him. Frankly, they kind of had it coming. Who knows, if they were just respectful, Beerus might have left the Earth alone. He was having a hell of a time at the party.
