I guess you could call it disgusting, but then again, it's nowhere near as disgusting as other things humans have done across their hundreds of thousands of years of existence. Marrying or dating a relative can be considered weird by many, but it's not really anything special coming from us.

Love can be so twisted sometimes...

Family friends are part of your family or considered family members sometimes, friends aren't and can't be. You can choose your friends, but family friends are just like family members, you can't choose them.

What are you talking about? Family friends don't just appear out of nowhere, they have to become friends in order to become family friends. So somebody chooses them. Also, again, what the hell are you talking about? If friends can't be family, then how do family friends become family?

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

So like your mothers best friend, who's practically your aunt, that would be classed as wrong?

I can certainly see how it would be a bit weird, especially for your mother "Why are you f***ing my son!?"

But I wouldn't go so far as to say it's "wrong"

Just be a bit weird if they have kids if there's a significant age gap.

As a child, I would rather marry a friend who doesn't have the word "family" attached to it. You can marry a family friend, but there's no reason to especially since they're already that close with you.

You're the one attaching 'family' to the word friend. Anyways, I'd consider a 'family friend' anyone who's friends with more than one family member, so the term is so broad that it's meaningless.

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

I... why do we need to explain that this is disgusting?

Why does family friend automatically mean someone close to you?

My mums best friend is most certainly a family friend...I barely know her, she's not close to me.

It would be weird for me to date her of course, since I'm like 20+ years her junior, she's married and has kids...

Someone being a family friend is meaningless, there's no difference between that and dating your best friend, which can end up being by far your most successful relationship.

Blood related family is disgusting, but I dont see the problem with family friends.

It also depends how close these family friends are. There are some I've only met like 3 times in my life because they live halfway across the world. That said though, I still think they would typically fall into the friend category, and so there would be nothing wrong with pursuing a relationship.

You'd at least keep the bloodline full of pureblood warriors.
Why does this sounds so familiar?

My sister would agree with me that there's nothing disgusting or unnatural about it.

If your sister could do what mine does with just her fingers and a hairdryer, then you'd understand.

Don't you have blood related relatives who you're not close with either?

Also, in terms of family friends, our culture think of them as non-blood related relatives. I don't know about yours.

Flashy Thing!

There definitely seems to be an issue here with defining "family friend". I see that SSJSC is saying that "in terms of family friends, our culture think of them as non-blood related relatives". While, I (and I believe many others) are defining a family friend as a individual who is a friends with more than one member of your family or has been a long time friend of a family member and is socially active within your family.

From my perspective on the topic of dating, there is no difference between a family friend and a friend. If I find that individual attractive and I would like to pursue something then I go ahead with it.
