Daizenshuu, which takes priority over the manga if something isn't spelled out in such a direct manner that a 1st grader could follow along. I mean, if the Daizenshuu said Goku had corn rows when he went to bed every night, that's what we'd have to believe.

That's the way it is regardless of how you feel any statement made in the series should be interpreted. Gotenks could surpass Goku if the boys kept on training and getting stronger. Goku didn't say anything about the immediate result surpassing him, not like he would know how strong Gotenks would be exactly anyway. Gotenks never ended up surpassing Goku, so it's moot. At which point, Goku bids farewell, finds himself a small newborn kitten, and eats it raw, swallow it soul so that it shall never find peace of mind again and then heads to a city. There he finds three gunmen, gives them some money and tells them to shoot a puppy and/or Mr. Satan...for the hell of it. Of course to make his point of being the world's biggest a***** so cruel that Freddy Kruger is calling him out on his sadism, he eats the third gunmen...soul and all. Thus he leaves the Earth to die like the soulless Dementor he truly is. --- --- I agree with everyone else. I don't really have much, if any difference between Gotenks in the Saiyaman Saga and the one around Fat Boo. It might end up being a bit more of a difficult fight but the kid should still be able to win if he's serious...that which of course is also questionable.

Look how that turned out. Official word>all. Pre rosat Gotenks is weaker than Vegeta as stated. End of story. Fat Boo stomps him with a smidgen more effort than he used to stomp base Gotenks.

The random statement of a guidebook that Toriyama states he had little to no involvement with takes priority over the actual statements he puts in his manga. Piccolo later: An army of SSJ2's can't beat Boo. Piccolo watches SSJ3 Goku and Fat Boo fight. Goku to Piccolo: The fusion will be even stronger than me. Piccolo to SSJ Gotenks: Your power is incredible, but how's your speed? Why would Piccolo even think about speed if this kid is weaker than SSJ Goku? You think as smart as he is, Piccolo's first reaction would be sheer panic along the lines of "Uhh no. No no no no no. You're a f*ing pissant and we're screwed if you don't make serious gainz." Just like all of the "implications" of the Base Saiyans being stronger than Frieza ended up being pure delirium. Gotenks was always a work in progress during his entire screen time during the Boo arc. He never surpassed Goku and was weaker than Vegeta prior to the rosat as stated officially.
