Oh please, if the inauguration would have been held in Alabama it would have been shoulder to shoulder tight. |

But it wasn't. It was held in DC and compared to 2009 seemed quite empty. |

They only said that as a distraction. Clearly worked since it's still a topix of conversation. Edited by Dingo, Feb 2 2017, 12:18 AM.

It doesn't matter if it's a distraction or not, it's a bare-faced lie and evidence that you can't trust anything Trump or his administration say. His ''commitment'' to upholding this Executive Order; does it have any sort of legal binding, or is it just lip service? |

Again, I point out this particular Executive Order only saves LGBT from employment-based rights. The Jobs President would look mighty bad if he forced American workers to be fired. But this is by no means the only gay rights executive order on record. And this also does not affect gay marriage rights directly. |

Trump can't repeal gay marriage. It was a decision of the Supreme Court, he literally has no power to overturn it. |

I'm assuming that wasn't directed toward my comment? Ironically enough, that case actually made my State Senate Judiciary Committee recommend a Do Not Pass on a bill dealing with identification of gay titles in the Century Code which upset a couple gay couples who testified in support of it. =\ Crazy' thing was I knew one of them and I had no idea she was gay, it was kind of awkward doing the hearing lol... And Dingo, That's what lots of people still don't understand. He has done that numerous times and continues to do so and it still works. If you actually read the Art of the Deal he literally ran his whole campaign based on the tactics in that book. |

You did not know this beforehand but my sister is gay. Be aware of this fact when you wish to make such comments to me again, please. |

No, I did. You actually posted it before on another thread, I think it was recently? I just found it amusing that no matter what Trump does it will never be enough to some people. So my comment was mostly patronizing that attitude of, "I don't like him so therefore, no matter what he does, even if it's a step in the right direction, it will never be enough." But as Copy said, Obergefell vs Hodges should give you comfort |

I am Canadian so in the end it will not effect either me nor my sister. All the same, take care that I am personally invested in those who said there is something inherently wrong with gay rights and gay marriage. I am not saying you specifically believe that. But if you do, keep such comments from being personal against me or my family. It is something of a berserk button if I percieve my family was threatened. I imagine you can understand and respect that instinct. |

Indeed. A big reason I don't have any warnings despite posting numerous controversial topics and having heated debates with many, many ranking members on this forum is because I don't specifically denigrate anyone or their beliefs on sensitive topics. I follow the rules of the forum in terms of respecting others. I may question your beliefs, and point out my perceived flaws in your beliefs, but I don't insult or personally attack anyone on this thread; I really don't in my personal life either to be honest. This includes gay rights, abortion, war, terrorism, Islam, etc. So you may not like what I say, but believe me, I have never insulted you or your family for your beliefs on this forum. Believe it or not, a lot of the times I just try to give people a separate side of things to look at it. I may not even fully agree with what I'm arguing, (for example, I argued that the wall can be beneficial even though I don't believe we should build a wall. Walls not only keep people out, they can keep people in) Maybe it's the future lawyer in me but i Just want to show that there are always two sides to a story and the world is not black and white; it's far far from black and white, and I think it pisses some people off when you openly question their beliefs, especially if their beliefs aren't normally questioned on a forum that has political spectrum skewed to the left. But it shouldn't, people should look at my arguments as a separate viewpoint and not as someone blind and ignorant of common sense. Since that was kind of off topic I will say that I still believe Trump won't touch gay rights in the future |

Thanks for understanding. On the subject at hand, while the possibility of Trump wanting to touch gay rights is up in the air, you cannof deny that Republicans at large may be tempted. |

I think there would have been more people then there was in DC, but it definitely wouldn't have been bigger than Obama's crowd. To be honest, I can't see any President beating Obama's crowd size. I voted for Obama and there were millions like me who were in awe of him and really followed his beliefs. Not to mention he was the first black President which made him larger than life at the time. I don't think you will see a bigger crowd than Obama's until possibly the first female President, unless it's Hillary. I will tell you a Democrat who I believe has a lot of potential for the future, including my vote, and that is Tulsi Gabbard. To be honest, I think the Democratic Party would be better off getting rid of dinosaurs like Feinstein, Schumer, Warren, and Pelosi, and start following Jim Webb and Tulsi Gabbard. Especially Jim Webb. That is a brilliant man who is overlooked. I don't really conform to a party but if I had to choose I'd say I'm either a moderate conservative or a Kennedy Democrat. ![]() Daemon, Ditto. Edited by Political Piper, Feb 2 2017, 01:21 AM.
