It truly was a Shawshank redemption

What the title says. I'm considering doing so because all my friends have either seen Rogue One, or aren't interested in it, but I'm hesitant because of the obvious stigma surrounding it. It's weird because I'll do a bunch of stuff alone e.g. walk around town, get fast food etc, but going to the cinema alone seems to be a bit more daunting. So yeah, has anyone here done so before? |

I have done it before for similar reasons and promise you it'll be just fine. Everyone is there to see the movie and won't pay any attention to the other patrons sitting near them in a dark cinema. Once the movie starts everyone will have their eyes glued to the screen for the duration of the movie and then yo all leave. Enjoy! It's a great film IMO. Edit And if you're really worried about it for whatever reason you can also time it so that you go in during the credits when it's already dark. Edited by Dingo, Jan 18 2017, 05:47 PM.

Me and my girlfriend watched Ratchet and Clank by ourselves. We were the only ones in the theater room. |

I haven't done it before because the whole idea gives me a lot of anxiety (same with eating at a restaurant or going inside for fast food by myself), but I used to have a friend who did this all the time. He would actually strike up conversations with random movie-goers. Of course, you don't have to do that, but he had no problem with going alone on a frequent basis. |

I don't see what the big deal is. If you wanna see a movie and you've paid to go see it, then you're within your right to do so, alone or not. Doesn't matter what other people think. I was thinking of seeing Rogue One on my own as well but managed to convince my friend who'd already seen it to see it again. I'd definitely watch it again. It was good. |

I mean it wouldn't be awkward really to do it, I've seen people do it before. I've never done it and I would probably feel like it was awkward, but no one else would care. It's nice to have someone there with you though, it's exciting to go to the movies with friends. |

I'm not sure that really fits the idea of "going to the cinema alone". I haven't done it, but that's more because I don't have a life. If I wanted to see a film in the cinema, I'd go with or without anyone to go with. |

I think I have once but can't remember why, it was a very lonely experience. I like to watch movies with a friend and discuss how stupid some things in the movie are(far away from other people so not bothering them) Didn't feel like being in the cinema enhanced the enjoyment of the film without anyone else present. |

I think I'll probably end up doing it, just to see how it is. I just know that if I don't see a film in the cinema, I will almost definitely never see it because I don't really watch movies at home (which doesn't make sense since if I really wanted to see it, I could just watch it, but I'm more of a TV show person at home, so I'll almost always opt for whatever show I'm watching atm over a film). |

I do it all the time actually. When I want to see a movie, I just go and see it, mainly because that's all I'm doing. I'm here to see the movie. Trust me, nobody's going to look at you and think "oh man, whose the lonely guy with no friends?" If you want to see the movie, go see it. I did the same thing with "Rogue One" and "Godzilla 2014" and when a new movie that I think I might like comes out I'll do the same. Despite how I act on the forum, I'm pretty much introverted so I enjoy having time to myself and being able to enjoy things own my own. |

Yup, I've done it a few times. While I normally try to go with friends I have no problems doing it by myself ![]() After the first couple of times it loses the awkwardness too haha |

I was in the same situation where I really wanted to see something but no one else wanted to so I just went. I think it helped that I ended up going to a higher end theatre? They served food at your chair and gave you pillows and blankets and the seat reclined and it was the best thing ever. Granted, I am also an introvert and prefer to be alone. Still, I'd recommend it. It's totally fine to see movies alone. |

I saw the last movie in the most recent Batman trilogy by myself. It felt odd at first since I always go to the movie theater as a social gathering. I got over the awkwardness once it got dark and enjoyed the movie. It's not a bad experience and I almost literally did it again to see Rouge One but a friend joined me at the last minute. |

I've done it loads. To be honest, it's really no different. If the movie is good and people aren't being annoying, they don't really talk to each other anyway, and if anyone cares about somebody being at the cinema by themselves, it's an issue with that person, not the other one being there alone. |
