Does anybody have an email address through Proton Mail? If so, do you like it? With the ever increasing threat of cyber warfare I am looking for a new email address. Proton Mail seems pretty legit in that is uses encryption and has self-destruct options. You also need two different passwords to get in. Lastly, it is based in Switzerland which is really strict with respect to privacy laws and the US has no jurisdiction. I'm wondering what everyone thinks of it?

Here is the link for further information.

I'd be curious as to how encrypted it can be when sending emails to non-protonmail users. At some stage it has to be decrypted, and if they expect all email services to be able to do so then it has to be a reasonably easy way to do so?

With the way emails bounce around so easily they're already rather insecure. However the "Public key export (to send to other PGP users and to verify messages manually)" is a pretty neat feature!

Edit; I'm a muppet, reasonably clever way they've done it.

However, I'd still not count for any level of major privacy using emails :P

Sadly, a big part of my life is emails. I currently work for my state government so I have a work email which is secured, but not my personal one =\
