How do you deal with sore losers? Extreme example of a sore loser: A father and coach hosts a peewee tournament. His kid gets beat by the rivaling coach's kid, in the finals. The host decides he doesn't want to handout trophies/medals because his kid got 2nd place. How unfair is a situation like that? How do you deal with sore losers? |

I laugh. But I always leave a situation before I lose, so I shouldn't laugh. |

That father shouldn't be hosting/handing out awards in a tournament his son is playing in. I blame the soccer club that allowed this to happen. |

Go and take the awards and give them to the deserving because everyone else there would support you. If not, tip him on his a*** and urinate on him. Dominance. Unless he's a big dude, in that case step outside and run back in all "Gee whiz! Someone vandalized your car!" and snaffle the prizes while he goes to check. And then hide behind the children when he comes back in because they make effective and light human shields. In all seriousness though generally call them out on it, nobody likes losing but it's just sad seeing an adult have a hissy fit over something so trivial. Be mad but don't piss other people off just because you suck. |

Depending on the significance of the activity, I for the most part would try to convince the person to understand that what they are doing is not in the good nature of sports and if that does not work, I would just leave and not do anything competitive with them again. |

Sore winners are worse than sore losers, someone at my job said. I don't tend to commit much of what my coworkers say to memory but that is sadly true and happens more often than I would like to think. But sore losers are pretty pathetic. I mean, you put yourself in a position to either win, or to lose. There was no middle ground: it's a competition. You need to step up and accept whatever happens to you. Whether it's small competitive stuff that we do for fun like the RP tournament on DBZF, or the Superbowl, you go in knowing that one of you, no matter what, is going to lose. Sore losers are people that expected it to be just handed to them, and honestly, it's hard to have any respect for somebody like that. It's one thing to be competitive, it's another to be a douche when you lose. |

I can be a sore loser, but only if I genuinely believe I should have won. All other times I just beat myself up about it for not doing enough to win. My younger brother is a terrible loser (and winner). One example: say he's winning 2-0 on FIFA, and I pull it back to 2-1, he'll start to mess around with tactics or gameplay so that if I come back and win, he has an excuse to point to. That's frustrating as hell. |
