Is Yugioh Zexal worth watching?

So after watching Yugioh GX, I'm going to get to Yugioh 5DS, which I've heard is really good. Zexal, however, I've heard is a lot more problematic. Is it like GX where the first season's just terrible and it gets into gear at a certain point? Or is it just worth skipping all of it to get to Arc V?

Skip and go to Arc-V. It's far better from what I've read, though I haven't bothered to watch. I tried watching the first episode of Zexal and couldn't get past a couple minutes. It's godawful.

Not necessarily true. I'm a huge Yugioh fan but I only watch it subbed, mainly because nothing is cut out. Honestly if you're planning on watching it dubbed then by all means skip it. All Yugioh dubbed (except the original) is terrible. The same re-used music and those high-pitched, whiny voiced characters can be so annoying. After the original series aired on Kids WB I watched all 224 episodes. But when GX had debuted I started to hate the dub. They cut so much out it's ridiculous. No cleavage, short skirts, cussing, or death was ever even remotely mentioned in the dub. So I decided to watch all of GX, 5D's, ZEXAL, and Arc-V subbed and never once regretted my decision.

Now as far as the story goes, ZEXAL is a little different. They introduced a new summoning mechanic in the series known as XYZ summon. I admit I was skeptical at first because it was an entirely new gimmick and sounded silly. But I can tell you right now that it's not. It couldn't be easier learning how to XYZ summon. I have about 20-30 XYZ cards and my main deck consists on several XYZ summoning methods. Anyway, this series take place in the future but has no connection whatsoever with the other three series Yugioh. However, there's a small tidbit in episode 15 that makes a short and sweet callback to the others. The series is fine if you can get past the main character, Yuma. He's an 11-12 year old with the most annoying and contagious catchphrase you'll ever hear. And he's absolutely terrible at the game before Astral shows up. Not to mention borderline retarded. He acts so spontaneous and becomes the biggest idiot, topping all characters before him. But you've got to hand it to him, he won me over. The series starts out kind of slow but ends up being the biggest highlight for the premise in the next series, Arc-V. The soundtrack is definitely another great addition to this series.

I know this topic is old but for those who still haven't given the series a chance and read this, I hope you do consider it. It was very popular in Japan. So if you love anime (preferably Yugioh) you'll love this. I watch Yugioh subbed now because it's the only way to watch it. Agree or disagree but the fact remains, people actually die in Yugioh. But Kids WB has covered it up for years, behind the veil of the "Shadow Realm."

Well no, not compared to the original. But they are pretty good on their own. They're both uniquely different and as long as people stop comparing them to the others it becomes easier to watch. That's probably one of the main reasons people hate Dragon Ball Super.

yugioh zexal and arc v ruined yugioh but i think yugioh vrains(the new one) is bringing it closer to the original one.you can't compare dragonball situation to yugioh.when you watch arc v without any knowledge of it .like lets just say it just appeared on tv.you won't even know you are watching yugioh at first.this is how broken it became

I haven't even given Yugioh VRAINS a chance yet because I decided to stop watching Arc-V (at episode 140). And yes I do have knowledge of Yugioh Arc-V. I have knowledge on all of the other Yugioh series' because I have every episode of each one. I've seen all 224 episodes of the original, all 180 episodes of GX, all 154 episodes of 5D's, and all 146 episodes of ZEXAL. So yes, I do know what I'm talking about. I decided not to finish Yugioh Arc-V because the storyline went downhill after episode 140. Everything after Zarc's defeat was what destroyed the most recent series for me. Plot-wise it had started out with a really great premise but the writers kept changing things, and certain character development or backstory was thrown out the window.

As far as Dragon Ball Super, it's starting to become just as ridiculous. Many new characters have no backstory but they are ridiculously OP, and suddenly someone always gets a new form when they're on the verge of losing a fight. Vegito coming back was a total slap to all Gogeta fans because of how the fusion (which was supposed to be permanent) now has a timer, and it happens to be a half an hour longer than the Fusion dance. None of that was mentioned in the previous series. They just wrote that into the story because it was convenient for him to appear, when they needed someone to fight Merged Zamasu.

That's debatable. But I haven't given up hope. I'm still waiting for something in Super that will restore my faith in the series. I don't hate it but I am definitely on the fence about whether its still one of the best or not. The animation has definitely been an improvement over what happened, back in episode 5 lol.

For me, the one aspect that really disconnects it from the original would be the "no drawing" on the first turn. Implementing such a new rule after so many other Yugioh series' episodes really messes up the game's TCG mechanic. I'm not sure on this, but it must have happened shortly after the start of Arc-V. I still don't run Pendulum cards in any of my decks.
