Could 18 have been training?

Vegeta was confident in winning the tournament at the beginning of the buu saga even without transforming and he knew 18 would be fighting too. He's fought 18 so he has a good idea of how strong she is. That leads me to believe base vegeta>18

But maybe 18 had been training and vegeta hadn't accounted for that?

She wasn't shown training during the training montage while every other fighter was, so that's the closest thing to an answer we have. No mention was made to her training or not.

I don't see any need for her to train, it's never implied.

Is it even possible for her to "train"?

I believe her power is basically there. She probably wouldn't lose power, but she probably can't gain anything either. So she doesn't train.

#18 can get stronger via training

Q4: Do modified-human types like Artificial Humans No. 17 and No. 18 get stronger if they train?
A: Since they’re human-based, of course they can become even stronger if they train.
In the case of modified-human types like No. 17 and No. 18, since they’re human-based they can become stronger if they train. By the way, though they don’t need to eat, they do need to hydrate. Also, their cells deteriorate slowly, so they age slowly too.

Ah thanks. Still it seems funny even though she can get stronger, she doesn't really train? Weird.

She was never a fighter. She fought when she was on the hunt for Goku, but that's about it. She had no reason to after that until the offer of money came along. I think her not training is totally in-character for her.

Nice to hear that she can get stronger through training. It makes sense, but I wonder if she could get weaker. I feel like her powers at a set level and then can be increased, but not decreased.

18 can get stronger. She has shown she can improve her fighting skills when she faced against the kids @ the tournament & sensed their power when she smiled. So it doesn't suprise me. Lol

Yeah, that's a good point. She didn't sense anyone's power before the Boo arc. She also didn't know the Kienzan, so those two things Krillin must've taught her, so I don't think it's unfair to think she trained and learned/gained.

Where did you get this quote from? I'm not going to use real life logic to explain why I believe she shouldn't be able to get stronger, I'll just accept this is it is legit.

She doesn't seem like the type to train, I suppose its possible though. I don't really see why her doing it after having her kid though.

It's from a Toriyama interview in one of the full colour volumes
