If DBZ fighting games have anything it's that they're (usually) quite innovative but they all, like most games, get inspiration somewhere else: The Budokai games are like the franchise's answer to Tekken/Virtua Fighter but for fans of the series. Super DBZ and the old Super Famicon games are equivalent to Street Fighter (the former was even made by those people for those people in mind). The Budokai Tenkaichi games and it's spiritual successor Raging Blast are like Virtual-On/Zone of Enders (the hidden Vs. Mode). What game franchise is Xenoverse supposedly based on and how is it? If not based on a game then I guess DImps wanted to be completely original. |

Well Technically Xenoverse is based off Dragon Ball Online. So, in short, you could say Xenoverse is equivalent to Dragon Ball Online. But, then that shifts the question to Dragon Ball Online. Dragon Ball Online and/or Xenoverse are basically fighting/action RPG type games with MMO mixed in or more colloquially a MMORPG game. I guess they must have been inspired by or based of games such as Star Wars The Old Republic (in terms of MMO and RPG elements) and games like The Legacy of Goku Series,Zelda or the Shining Series(mainly the Action RPG Titles) must have inspired them in terms of the Action/fighting RPG elements. And the combat mechanism for Xenoverse must have been inspired from previous Dragon Ball Fighting games. |
