Hi guys. I'm not an experienced writer so forgive me if this story contains some errors. I intend to continue it after this chapter but that might take some time. Busy with life these days. Anyway here it is. Hope you enjoy :)

Chapter 1

The night was cold with a bit of humidity in the air. Away from the dazzling bright lights of the city lay the massive arena where every saiyan fighter gathered once a year for a magnificent Tournament. However, this wasn’t the time for that. The thunderous sounds of rapid punches were booming all over the arena. The trainer stood with a passive face, observing each and every move of the duo fighting in front of him. Even with the epic battle going on with destructive sounds, the arena was silent. Perhaps it was the absence of the crowd that brought this strange silence. It had been a few weeks since this group had moved here for training.

“It’s seems weird. Just look at all those empty chairs” said a bored saiyan sitting behind the trainer.

“Yea this is gonna take some getting used to” his companion replied as they both stared around the stadium

“Just look at the… Oh look Zack’s down again!” with that both of the fighters started laughing as Zack failed to dodge a punch that connected to his face. *BAM* the sound echoed around the stadium for a second or two. Zack threw up his hands to his face where he had been hit and started rubbing it vigorously. His opponent slowly descended to the ground next to him, laughing.

“I’m impressed Zack. You lasted a full minute this time”

“Darn it! You had to hit so hard huh?!”

“Sorry lost a bit of control there. All this raw strength is sometimes difficult to filter out you know” the opponent stared at Zack for a second before turning to the trainer who was now approaching them.

“How did I do this time?” the victor sounded proud as ever.

“I’m disappointed. Your focus is still weak. Everyone knows you can put a smack on Zack but that doesn’t mean you should enjoy it instead of doing what I actually told you to. Start from the basics again. You need more focus!”

“But..!”

“Hundred pushups now! Fifty times E.G (Earth Gravity)”

The young boy snarled before walking off to the Saiyan Gym. The trainer glared at him as he went.

“Alright boys let’s call it a day!” said the trainer as the fighters lazily stood up from their positions and flew off to their homes. He extended a hand to the fallen fighter lying in the rubble now. Hesitantly, Zack took it and stood up.

“You’re growing stronger every week Zack. I seriously never thought you’d reach this power level when I first took you under training”

“Yea whatever. What difference does it make if I still lose”

“That’s not something a warrior should be saying. Make that dream of yours a goal. One day you will achieve it”

Zack looked at his trainer with disbelieving eyes. He knew the truth behind that face that hid emotions so well. He knew he was the punching bag of Titans, the most elite saiyan group on the planet. He knew it’d take more than years of training to even get close to that power level. Yet somehow, his trainer always tried to motivate and comfort him. “Alright I’ll be going now. See you next week” Zack said as he took off into the sky and made his way over the bright city lights. To any other saiyan, it would be an honor to be a part of this saiyan group but not Zack. The other fighters had simply been training under their trainer, who was himself the best martial arts teacher on Earth, for over 15 years. Zack was just in it due to his father’s relation with their teacher. Of course Zack was good on his own. He had won many World Tournaments (Titans never took part in a tournament). So in a way, he was one of the best choices to make from the other elite fighters of the world but still his power level was way below the rest of his companions. Zack’s thoughts broke off as he realized he was now heading into the forest and was way past the city. With an expressionless face, he turned back and corrected his way.

The door to the lumpy apartment creaked open. The infra-red sensors detected Zack’s presence and identity in a fraction of a second as they turned the lights on. The boy’s eyes narrowed a bit from the sudden brightness which the sensors noted as well and dimmed it down. Zack jumped onto his bed and stared at the ceiling for a bit. His hand automatically reached out and pulled off an old book from the desk right next to the bed.

‘The Legacy of Goku’

He read the familiar text and opened to the page where he left off last time. It was an old book that previously belonged to his grandfather. It carried a nearly forgotten myth. A legendary Saiyan whose name rung about the universe thousands of years ago. Well... It was just a myth and a darn good story to pass Zack’s time.
