Did Vegeta deserve to suffer at the fate of Freeza?

Inspired by a topic on Kanzenshuu and it had me thinking... does Vegeta really have what Freeza was giving to him?

Personally, I think Vegeta does deserve to suffer for all the horrible things he's done but Freeza is even worse than Vegeta and is more or less the reason he's the way he is (no, not the dub bulls*** about him really being a good guy deep down).

Vegeta committed genocide, was power hungry, and would kill his allies if they weren't strong. He got what was coming to him. Although, yeah, part of the reason he was the way was because he was working under Frieza. So for Frieza to be the one who kills him it's a little unfair I guess

I wouldn't say it's unfair. I'd say it's poetic justice.

Hey, little bully steps up to big bully, big bully smacks him the hell down. Besides, Freeza didn't cause Vegeta TOO much suffering with the big beatdown.

Vegeta caused his own suffering by deluding himself into thinking that just abusing zenkais would make him an SSJ. When Freeza disproved that, it really did the job

Vegeta does deserve what he got but it still makes him somewhat sympathetic in an underdog, Sympathy for the Devil way.

I think G.G pretty much hit the nail on the head in regards to this topic/question. Vegeta had done horrible things like murder entire villages of Nameks who posed absolutely no threat to him. He stood idly by while Nappa went about and murdered the military of Earth. That isn't even mentioning the numerous planets he's likely killed the inhabitants of while under Frieza's employ. Vegeta didn't even necessarily like Krillin/Gohan and would have likely murdered Krillin without a second thought had Zarbon not showed up when he did. Of course this would have opened up Vegeta to a butt-kicking once Goku got there but y'know dem's the breaks for being a colossal d-bag.

That said Vegeta is still the lesser evil between him and Frieza. It's through Frieza's machinations/dominating the galaxy and using races like the saiyans as foot soliders that helped lead to the untold suffering that was caused later on. Doesn't mean Vegeta's not a bad guy though. He is and his beatdown by Frieza was just the eye-opener he needed. Even if it was quite the painful one. ><
