They lived nearly almost or just about 80 million years. We know Beerus didn't necessarily didn't show the amount skills we expected but don't you think it could probably be blamed on the fact he was overly reliant on his overwhelming power to the point he doesn't put as much focus on his fighting ability? I mean Whis doesn't even have a legit way of signifying his skills due to him having a massive power advantage on everyone in Universe 7. But on several instances he does impresses me when he caught debris that was flown towards him due to Frost punching the ring. Debris doesn't have a battle power but yet he near instantly manages to cash em all in one panel in the DBS manga. Don't you think there's more to them then we think? |

As with most things dragonball, skill is stated, not shown. It's relied on the reader to just take their word for it. It's unfortunate that eighty million year old beings are using fighting techniques that simpletons use, but eh. Not much to expect. |

I know but the fact they're as strong as they is, they don't really need to use it though. Take Vegito in the Buu arc for example. He was the strongest mortal in the universe, he had all of Goku and Vegeta's fighting abilities but didn't necessarily use em, his staggering power also put his speed well over Buuhan's leading to him having to use little to probably no skill against him (despite Buu having Piccolo, and Gohan). And then in Dragon Ball Super, we see him more or less even with a being that's practically merged with his fusee's original body. He can't use power advantage to his advantage (let's ignore Kaioken) to replicate skills in this case and has to rely on his wits and actual battle smarts, which he did excellent with showcasing. I think, if push comes to shove, Beerus and even Whis could do so too. Don't you agree? |

It's the only explanation I can think of, even in Dragon Ball characters aren't usually that bad. Beerus has to have been reliant on his overwhelming power for a very long time, especially considering everything else he's shown. That is a problem the only showings in terms of skill one can show for him is really things that make him less skilled, such as the spar with Goku and Vegeta where he got caught despite being more powerful than Beerus who can fingerflick Blueper Vegetto. That said, we could potentially get something if maybe he has a training session with Vados.
Realistically yes, in terms of the story as it stands, no, nothing is particularly set about them at the moment I believe, maybe down the line they will write something in to make them more three dimensional, more multi-faceted, and more complicated, but for now they're ultimately very simple characters. That said they do have potential, it's just kind unused right now. Edited by Tinny, Dec 1 2016, 08:16 PM.

I'm just saying, I think overall their lack of skills showings is just attributed to the fact they're strong, just like Vegito's two fights in the series. One with a power advantage and one with a enemy of similar strength. Side question though: Do people of greater power perceive lower levels slower? I think the obvious answer is yes though but I only ask cause of the fact of the scene with Whis catching debris. |

As far as I've read about the fight between Zamasu and Vegetto, you could make a fairly good argument that Vegetto was weaker. Props to the Super staff whoever animated/wrote the scene should get credit where credit is due. But the issue here mainly is that we have to put faith in whoever is writing these scenes to not just delve into power porn and ignore any sort of technique based fighting. I personally don't have faith that they would or even could show off an eighty million year old's 'skill'.
They potentially could, but that question is something I would be asking whoever gets to write this certain situation where they would have to show this off. |

In that case, we need Whis to fight Vados like Tinny said. I would think that Beerus and Champa's "fight" would more skills since they're somewhat around the same strength. I have to go back over it though. Edit: Well, looking at Beerus vs Champa, Beerus was showing mad agility and reflexes and reaction to someone's whose closer to his strength in the manga. If we're talking about the manga, I don't think that bit exists. Unless there's another training session with Whis, the one I just read showed him handling them with complete and nonchalant ease. |

I was mostly referring to the anime.
The manga I haven't been able to look over in as much detail but Beerus seemed to mostly just fly around to avoid the ki blasts. And since the anime seems to apparently take priority for now, I'll cover that as well. This was the closest thing to agility I've seen from him there.

Oh, my mistake. I must have assumed it was referring to the manga from the OP's comments. |
