I'm just curious about this. Will lowering screen resolution on a mobile device (laptop or cellphone) result in significant savings in the battery department? I believe the Galaxy S7 (maybe the note) can reduce the screen resolution with it's battery saving mode but would that alone really make a difference? |

Not sure on resolution, but I know the brightness definitely takes in effect. I have an iPhone 6+ and I use it on very low brightness in addition to the Low Power mode. With normal settings, I used to get about 10 hours of life from a full charge with my uses. Now, I get almost two full days! I also have the Night Shift mode ON at all times.

Yeah I now brightness can change things big time but I was just curious specifically about screen resolution. It's not something I've thought about until recently, maybe it'll take time before enough data is collected and made available online. |
