It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

I have an issue with the writers implying Gohan might train again when he won't. I have no problem with the direction Gohan trended in, given that he was a complete non-fighter scholar/nerd by the manga end of Z and that was what he wanted for his entire life. He didn't even want to fight Cell. Gohan fans that think he should be involved in the action are pretty delusional and haven't been paying attention to the storyline, unless they have been teased too much by Toei. That I can understand. Otherwise, aside from Ultimate Gohan where he received an epic power boost and battled Boo for 15 minutes before being absorbed, he was completely irrelevant after Cell.

The thing that has bothered me about Gohan is how the writers(and some fans) think that he either has to spend every waking hour of his life training or just be a family man with no power.

What I never understood is why Gohan can't just be written to be both. Have him train with Piccolo while still having his family and job. If Goku can somehow be a farmer while running off to train, fight in tournaments, and go Universe hopping, then why can't Gohan?

Does he not get days off?

The issue for me is not the inconsistency, but rather how he is written to always forget the important lesson of keeping his strength up. Since he was a small child, Earth as been threatened by some threat that wants to blow it up and kill humanity. Time and time again, he has lost his father, his mentor, his mother, his brother, and close friends to these threats, and most of the time, those losses are directly attributed to his lack of training and inability to keep his strength up.

He married to a woman who unlike his mother, seems to support him training, so its not like he's holding off because of her.

Gohan is still stated to have the best potential out of all the Sayians on Earth. That is outright stated by Vegeta who has become a Sayian god himself.

So, Gohan has spent his entire life fighting against powerful threats, and not only has his family to protect, but a wife and child that are dependent on him.

How many more times will it take before the lesson takes hold that he needs to keep his strength up? He could have held off Frezia had he kept his strength up. At full power, he could have even turned the tide of battle against Black and Zamasu alongside his father, Vegeta, and Future Trunks.

I don't know why writers keep treating Gohan like he's a joke that needs to be shoved to the side. Maybe they are scared that if he does get involved in battles again, they will have to explain why he simply can't wipe the floor with anyone that he faces.

Gohan's power has the potential to be a story breaker. That's why he was written out of the Buu arc with most of his time either spent dead, absorbed, or being away from a battlefield. Back when he was a kid, they could explain that he still could not draw out his full power. As an adult, I think its harder to explain why he would be behind Vegeta and Goku if he trained himself.

Hence, the endless cycle of him getting a massive power boost only to lose it at some point because he can't be bothered to get off his butt and go train.
