A nihilistic and depraved individual, Legato's life has not been one of many happy moments. In fact you can kind of name the top 3 happiest moments in his life in order. 1.) Knives saving him from being raped to death. 2.) Knives breaking his spine. 3.) Being raped to death. Deplorable and nigh insane, Legato is a man who holds loyalty only to the series big bad "Millions Knives" and is a major threat not only to the likes of heroes like Vash the Stampede but to his own allies as well. ... ... Personality: Through the first 3 volumes of Trigun, Legato's personality is much like his anime counterpart. Cold, calm and collective with the same sense of deplorability. However through out maximum, his mind becomes more and more warped until he's become a laughing maniac but every bit as dangerous as before. He is a nihilistic, caring for nobody nor even himself and his only goal in life is to follow Knives until he is of no more use. --- --- Feats: Nano Filament Wires: Legato's primary ability. They are micro wires that he has personally injected into his own brain, allowing him to control them at vast distances. They hold the capabilities of completely controlling a person's body like a puppet. With these, he has done such things as... Forced a man to rip out his own heart. Spoiler: click to toggle (All things below are done after Legato has been paralyzed from the neck down) Controlled a group of around 40 men to force themselves down into a truck, literally crushing them until their blood begins to leak out of the exhaust pipe. Spoiler: click to toggle Casually bends Midvalley's Arm back before he can shoot....while stuffing his face with pie. Spoiler: click to toggle Immediately takes control of Wolfwood before he can fire despite the latter knowing he has to attack as soon as possible. Legato also does this while keeping Vash's power under control,a feat already noted to be a difficult task. Spoiler: click to toggle Gets shot several times by Wolfwood, survives and nearly kills him. Spoiler: click to toggle Controls Vash's body for 8 months and keeps him under control. Nearly takes off Vash's head, only missing because he can barely hold on to his body thanks to his Angel Wings. Spoiler: click to toggle Controls Knives's Angel Arms to prevent them from cutting him down as a child. Takes control of Elendira the Crimsonail's corpse and nearly kills Livio the Doublefang. Spoiler: click to toggle Simultaneously holds both Hopperd the Guantlet and Vash the Stampede. A notable feat as Vash is capable of breaking out of his control and whose powers are literally going haywire at the moment. Earlier, he controls Hopperd's body and shoots Midvalley before he can land an attack. Spoiler: click to toggle Pinpoints the locations of Vash's angel arms attack and deflects them then nearly ends up shooting him straight int he head. Spoiler: click to toggle Uses his own threads to control his paralyzed body, turning himself into one of his own puppets. Spoiler: click to toggle Other feats: For a guy literally paralyzed from the neck down for most of his appearance, he ends having quite a few feats in the manga. Rides in on a bike with the help of a servant and uses it to crush the head of Midvalley the Hornfreak after shooting him. Spoiler: click to toggle Destroy's Zazie the Beast's insects before impaling her and ripping her in half. All done while not only paralyzed but suffering under a poison that has kept both Elendira and Knives (for the moment) from moving. Spoiler: click to toggle Wields the Guernica, a massive spiked flail that holds several machine guns that forces Vash's Angel Wings to automatically come out. Spoiler: click to toggle Takes an absolute beating from Vash's Angel Wings, is beaten to a blood pulp and blown through a wall. Even after vomiting enough blood to kill a normal human, he continues to fight. Spoiler: click to toggle Senses the differences in the scope of Vash and Knives' power and stops Vash before he can take over Knives. Spoiler: click to toggle In the final battle with Vash, he dukes it out with him mono de mono while specifically weakening his powers so that it will remain a good fight until Vash destroys the device later on. Spoiler: click to toggle During the scuffle with Hopperd, Wolfwood, Zazie, Vash and the others, he ends up taking a gunshot to the face, barely avoiding it and leaving his face scarred.
