Is this reality a simulation?

It could just be a simulation of a world similar to games like Civilisation & Sim City, just on an extremely grand scale. Or maybe it's a luck of the draw type thing where you're just put into the world as a baby and just, whatever happens happens.

The only problem with this theory is, who would want to play a simulation of a homeless person, drugatic, the children in Africa who are killed daily by other tribes, etc etc.

Point being, those options don't sound too appealing to play as so, I don't think video game simulation is the answer to life.
Maybe they didn't realize how hard "expert" difficulty would be

It might just be inside some scientific project like an advanced version of: http://www.sciencefocus.com/article/space/eagle-project-manmade-universe

Doesn't have to be a game.

Curiosity is an odd thirst to quench, it's very well a possibility that someone engaging in this simulation might want to experience how s***ty life is for some people. I personally find it to be ridonkulous to want to do that, but eh.

If life were to be a simulation, then, from personal experience, it would have to be something to where we have no recollection of our actual body. Whether that's done via temporary mind-wipe or permanent mind-wipe would be pretty cool to discuss about, as well as the possibility of some experiment done to re-do the personality of those that engage in it.

uh his argument sounds like a non-sequitur to me. i agree with darker. it's a bit of a ridiculous conclusion to reach.
okay ive actually read the article this time and it's basically the same as the brain-in-a-vat pr evil-demon scenarios in philosophy, so it's not a ridiculous thing after all.

it's also been yrs since ive read into it, so i don't really have anything else to add other than that it makes me think of descartes' cogito ergo sum.

There are a lot of things we can't prove. It can't be proven to me that anybody outside of myself is a real person with independent thought. Or that they exist outside of interactions with me. Or that anything in the world past and present that happened outside of my own first-hand account actually happened. Even if they are reasonable beliefs, it doesn't make them any less nonsensical to actually believe.

We definitely live in reality. Our brains sends us all the signals. I had once derealisation because of Depression. I thought everything is not real. But it certainly is.

No because it's still interacting with me, as in, I see the photos and statuses and what not.
