Living in a car 2017

So paying rent really sucks which is making me think about how living in a car could be perfect. Can't really discuss this with people irl because of its association with bum-life so I'm turning to dbzf.

Pros
-Cheap
-Close to whatever I want
-Would help kill off procrastination
-May be my only chance to live like a semi homeless person (freedom of youth)
-Would help me appreciate having a real home.
-Will make me eat more fruit/nuts. (Rotten fruit in the car wouldn't be fun)
-Will keep my sleep schedule in order. ( No reason to stay up all night sitting in my car)
-I think it would be a neat experience/it's less crazy then living in a tent all year

Cons
-Sleeping space
-Storage
-Will have to be a secret from everyone I know
-Will have to live off canned/non perishable food items and water.
-Will probably end up buying a lot of food from subway
-If people find out they'll be all like "wtf Ding"
--Cars have no insulation so get very cold very quick (Still thinking of solutions for this one)

Solutions
-Locker at the gym could store clean clothes
-Shower at the gym could keep me from being a dirt bag
-Coin laundry services
-In the winter I'll be able to use my car as a fridge/freezer

So if you can think of any more pros/cons/solutions let me know and pls vote

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I wouldn't exactly call it genius but it could certainly be a great way to save money for a few months if you can get away with it.

What about mail though?

I still have all my mail sent to my parent's house.

Unless you live in a van this is a horrible idea and even if it was a van it still isn't a great one.

This is actually becoming a little more common than it used to be. Many workers at Google live in the parking lot. It's a good way to save money.

Many workers at Google live in California don't they? Extreme cold weather is uncommon there.

That is true, I imagine it being much harder in places with that kinda weather. While cars do have climate control, that's a good way to burn out your car battery.

Maybe there are heavy duty sleeping bags/electric blankets which could get the job done in the winter.

I lived in my car for two months because I got kicked out of my moms house when I was like 17. It sucks. Don't do it. If you can, find a place to stay. It's worth it in the end.

Probably depends on your drive (no pun intended) and luggage.

I agree big time. In extreme weather conditions you'll have to keep your car running and maybe even while you're asleep. Maintenance of your car is going to be vital and if it has to go to a shop for a period of time, then you're actually homeless.

There was a point in my life where I did for about 2-3 months cause I got kicked out of my house at 17. Ended up moving in with an ex girlfriend at the time but, wasn’t exactly fun.

Obviously you can't live in your car forever. It's only worth doing it if the alternative is living on the streets or if you will put the saved money to good use so you can live very well in the future. You would need to figure out a few places where you can have showers, sleep etc so that you don't easily end up in a position where your self-care suffers too much.

I thought I was going to do this at one time, which would have been interesting, since I don't actually have a driver's license haha. Maybe it wouldn't have worked out. That was a few years ago.

Yeah Google HQ is in Mountain View, California, a place where the lowest temperature of the year is right at freezing, and many years where it doesn't freeze at all. Even then I wouldn't recommend living in a car honestly.

Edit: Nvm, I just noticed that this is an old thread. I will just go my merry way.
