Going to be doing something new for myself, going to be giving my opinion of some of the mechanics and how games play within the first hour or so of me playing them. First up as you can see, Lords of the Fallen. We start off with a cinematic of my tuned character fighting against a giant creature that dwarfs him in size, using some kind of technique to make clones. The animation as I can see is well-done, with very little stiffness/random jumps. The framerate as I enter the tutorial is holding up rather well. My weapon (Warhammer) has a lot of weight to it, and the enemy I'm swinging it on is acting like someone if they were hit by something as large as what I'm using. My character also sounds like someone who's swinging around what amounts to a large stick with two metal dense boxes welded onto the top. Things my height seem to be destructible with my sledgy as I'll call it. It seems as though the enemies aren't based on an area sense, rather, a line of sight sense. That's good, should keep out some cheap sneak attacks on me. Not digging the really cramped area though, subjective though I suppose. My god the sound of Sledgy smashing into something is nearly world shattering lolThere are legit sneak mechanics, alright. Audio notes to give me some background on the happenings of the world. And I got my a*** handed to me on a silver platter lol. Alright, the learning curve on how to fight is pretty easy. Went from getting destroyed to putting up a good enough fight, then to winning with about a quarter of my life left. Got wrecked by the first boss 4 times before I got the idea to play towards the weaknesses of his attack pattern, or rather, its attack pattern. I like it so far, going to put it down for now. Might pick up on it tomorrow morning. It has a good first impression from me. |

I was interested when it came out but people said it was a less good Dark Souls so I never bothered. Think I'll give it a try now it's free, certainly a more interesting dish than Journey which I seen people compare to TLOU and just what... |

I think the comparison comes more due to it being more an experience than anything. It's... quite unlike most games. I suppose in a similar way that TLOU is different to most games. |

Yeah I see why it could be a good game even if it's not for me but it's basically just a walking simulator with very slight puzzle elements to it so I don't get the mass hype, Abzu was basically the same thing though less good I hear. A proper story experience like the Walking Dead games will always be more entertaining to the masses. |

Played about 10 minutes of this so far and the aesthetics are vastly superior to Dark Souls I'd say. It's pretty much a copy of the gameplay but it at least feels functional and looks decent. DS has a bit better combat though but then they've had more games to practice with. I feel like most people won't like this game because it's too similar without realizing that a lot of DS is...kinda crappy. If this was how DS started nobody would care about the DS games we actually have because they look horrible mostly and don't all play so well. Seems worth giving a chance anyway. Damn your character is buff, seems a lot like they modelled him after Kratos. While there's not a huge variety I like how the combination of magic skills and equipment gives you a lot of different classes. Went for Raider, sword and shield and the more deception based powers. |
