Galick Gun and Kamehameha the same?

So when Goku blasts his Kamehameha at Vegeta's Galick Gun Vegeta says that Goku's attack was his beam. So does the Galick Gun work in the same way that the Kamehameha does and is it the same? So if that's the case it draws out all of the user's latent energy and releases it as once, according to Yamcha's words that is.

This seems like something really simple but Idk I find it interesting that Goku and Vegeta would have the same technique, they just perform it slightly differently.

All official numbers. Except for the Galick Gun, which I just made very slightly stronger than Goku's Kaio-Ken x3 Kamehameha for reasons obv. lol

Goku: 8,000
--Kaioken x2: 16,000
--Kaioken x3: 24,000
---Drained- 21,000
----x3 Kamehahema- 31,500
----x4 Kamehameha- 42,000

Vegeta- 18,000
--Galick Gun- 32,400

1.7×- Galick Gun
1.5×- Kamehameha

lol

It doesn't surprise me. Generic linear Ki blasts sort of became a commonality in DBZ once the Saiyan arc began. You could argue that the 23rd tournament and Piccolo Daimao arcs were a precursor to what was to come with over the top explosions and long-winded power-up sequences. Afterwards, finding any distinct powers with their own typology becomes harder and harder to do.

I was always under the impression the two were different. AT seemed to find many ways of saying the Kama was the strongest key blast in DBZ. Personally, I don't think they are the same, but I don't have the power-level statistics that some of you have :p

I feel like it would be easier to determine if there was another fight between Goku and Vegeta where they used those attacks. For example if SS2 Goku used Kamehameha against Majin Vegeta and he used Galick Gun then that would be the best way to determine which one is a stronger attack. I still think that they both work the same though.

Did you not see the fight between Goku & Vegeta in Saiyan saga. Vegeta's Galick Gun clearly had a bit of an edge on Goku's kamehameha and Goku needed to turn Kaio-Ken x4 to completely overpower him. lol

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!"

There's different types of ki attacks, and I think Vegeta's "mistake" was more of an observation that Goku's beam worked in the same way that his did.

Most attacks we see in the series are actually ki masses or balls that are thrown, not an actual wave or beam of ki. Waves seem to be more of an advanced ki technique.
Something also we see is that both attacks are formed at the user's side, and fired forward.

Even though Vegeta gets credit for the Galick Gun or Big Bang being his "signature attack", Vegeta's actual signature attack is the renzoku ki dan ("continuous ki bullets"), and are is just small blasts rapidly thrown from both hands that are bombard an opponent. He uses this so often that even Boo learns it (which is a plot hole, because Vegeta never uses this against Boo before he dies).
