Our first chapter in World History class is about Human Evolution so I thought I would make a topic here, about evolution in general. So do you believe in evolution? If not then why or if so why?

Aside from reading through a lot of shit, the most basic answer to your question "where is the evidence?" is pretty much all around you. We've dug up fossils, we as a species and pretty much every other species on this planet has evolved over the years, etc.

Like all the crap tons of fossils everywhere, the fact that we've deliberately bred animals and plants to look and behave in certain ways just like evolution does naturally, the anatomy of living creatures not making any sense without evolution being involved.

Why wouldn't I believe in evolution?

We all still look like a bunch of dumb apes.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

Evolution is as close to a fact as scientific theory gets. Just look up pictures of what certain dog breeds used to look like until we bred certain characteristics into them.

"Course. Doing better next time. That's what life is."

My Dear Melancholy,

Evolution isn't a common fact (or well theory) by now? Even when I was a little kid it was pretty accepted. I guess if you live in the bible belt but the east coast seems to accept it easily.

That's exactly what it all comes down to. This separation of evolution and religion being projected to the people doesn't mean that there IS a separation between evolution and religion. Can't evolution be the how and religion be the why?

No. Some people are adamant that God does everything instantly without any technical process to it. Evolution makes no sense to someone who thinks a magical sky being can wish up anything he wants in less than a second.
